The American journal “Annals of Internal Medicine” published an analysis of the Veneto Tumour Registry on the performance of colorectal cancer screening programs for detecting lesions located in the proximal colon, in the distal colon and in the rectum. The study showed that the screening protocol based on the two-year repetition of the fecal immunochemical test is much more effective for neoplasia of the distal colon and rectum than for neoplasia in the proximal colon.
